I agree with you, and I will share some methods that can help optimize system with you:
1. Clean up registry to speed up computer.
2. Decrease auto-runs to boost stat-up.
3. Rational use of hard disk to fully utilize disk and avoid losing files.
4. Defrag disks to improve disk speed.
5. Remove junk files to free up disk space.
6. Put shortcuts properly to boost desktop loading.
7. Set virtual memory reasonably to fully utilize physical memory.
8. Forbidden hibernation function to save disk space.
9. Make a simple desktop to save system source.

it's such useful, as in my opinion, there are 3 methods to speed up computer:
1. Clean registry and computer history to prevent PC from crash, freeze and error messages.
2. Optimize system by revising registry by adjusting and optimizing registry parameters
3. Advanced system tools to completely uninstall unused and unnecessary applications with windows registry optimizer

Along with all the good instructions you gave Lloyd, I want to emphasize the hard drive more. NTFS is not fool-proof. Specially with IDE hard drives, the hard drive is USUALLY the slowest part of the computer. I've even seen better performance after I've defragged my SATA drives.

1) As Jacob said, removing large files from the computer is needed. Also remove unused programs (step 4 above). Open My Computer, right click C:, click Search. Then search for all files on your computer by typing *.* You'll have to wait a long time, but when it's finished, order by file size. Find the largest files on your computer and delete them if you know what they are and if you can live without them.

2) Defrag. Start > Assessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter. Choose to analyze and/or defrag the C: drive.

And don't forget the infamous "too much stuff on your hard drive" issue. (I suppose this goes along with deleting unneccesary programs.) I'm not sure it happens to many other people, since I assume most people usually don't fill up a hard drive, but more times than I'd like to admit I've noticed my computer running obnoxiously slow only to find out that I am running low on space for my operating system partition. Naturally, the best way to avoid it is to install your OS on its own partition to begin with, giving it plenty of space to work with, and then not adding a lot of programs or data to the same partition. I was surprised at the exponential decrease in speed associated with filling up a partition.
Also, while I agree that Firefox is still the faster and more hassle-free internet browser to use, I've noticed that IE8, as opposed to IE7, has almost comparable memory usage to the version of Firefox I have installed on my computer, and with the release of Google's public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), I haven't noticed much difference between the two browsers. I think we can all agree that Norton is evil, though. I spent a couple days removing the traces of it from my mom's computer, including a proxy port that Norton added to the wireless card's configuration settings that was protected by some strange permissions policy that I couldn't just change as an administrator.
Finally, I would buy a Mac, but I have too much pride and not enough money, haha. Good tips though, Lloyd!

I speak from the perspective of a marriage that was in SERIOUS trouble for the first five years, and by the grace of God and a LOT of hard work, am now in a wonderful, marriage where we honor each other and God (most of the time, at least), and have been for about two years.

First, I'd say that, yes, love is important, it's a choice and a must, obviously. But Michael and I have personally learned that respect is HUGE. It's something that our culture tells us is earned - even most Christians feel that way, I think, but it's not true. Respect in a marriage has to be treated just like love from the Christian perspective. We must offer it up, even if it's not offered in return. And chances are, that eventually it will be reciprocated. Respecting the other person's gifts, contributions to the marriage, etc., and making allowances for their flaws is crucial.

I'd also advise getting a GOOD marriage counselor before getting married and taking that time seriously to work through as much baggage and junk as you can (because everybody has some, and some people have a LOT). If there are red flags, call them like you see them, and work through them together. Having the mentality that things will be different and better and fixed once you're in this committed, final relationship can be detrimental. Work on any issues before you tie the knot. Then it'll be an understood, expected continuation of what you've already been doing, rather than being shocked when a lot of expectations fall through or are disappointed.

This may not make much sense to you or anyone else unless they've been through some rough times, but they're things I wish I'd known up front, that may have saved us some heartache!

Marriage is tough, but it's wonderful and so rewarding when you're both on the path together, following God's plan.

Thanks for the thoughts, Gordy. I really appreciate your thoughtful input here. I think not having divorce as an option from the beginning is awesome. I also really like the "no yelling" agreement!

Show them who you really are as quickly as possible. This not only good for getting to know the truth about someone, but also prevent the other from thinking that you've since changed who you are.

Cherish and I started off pretty quick with telling the other what we were like. I was very clear with my views on personal dependance as well as what dating relationships are good for*. I also told her that I forget thing a lot which is why I can't remember what she said to me.

Also, when we were talking about marriage it was firmly established that 1) divorce is NOT an option and that 2) yelling at each other is NOT allowed. Honesty is the best policy. We have a great marriage because of that very thought process.

* I say they're useless unless marriage is the ultimate goal. Would you date someone you couldn't marry? I wouldn't.

as a guy who has received hundreds of stitches and faced that mom face and fought the orderlies with my disorderly conduct, i feel you. as a guy who has fallen and failed in my spiritual life i also feel you. It is most difficult when the injury is as you have painted the picture here... bad but not that bad... an injury painful enough to hurt but slight enough to make us wonder if we can hide it and it will go away. I shudder to imagine my own life. I would probably be limbless today had i let even one of my wounds go untreated. Surely in a spiritual sense I would be one lost soul. Here's to stitches and holy forgiveness!

I will concur on Leslie's athletic ability. After countless games and have game-point many, many times, I was never able to beat him! :)

I wonder why you dad just didn't take you to the ER when he first inspected you.

What an incredible spiritual analogy! Two thumbs up and a gold star for this post! You should get a cookie too.

Lloyd,

Great insight. Well put.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. KJV

@Flip... you and me both. Thank goodness for a love whose depths are unplumbable. May we both continue to be immersed in it day after day!

@Natacha, it still never ceases to amaze me what Jesus did for us. I think the key to all of it is that He did it because He put the Father first as well. Just another testament to God's incredible plan to redeem everything.

@LK, as always, thank you for your encouragement. I particularly liked the section about the Prodigal son. Regardless of his predicament, and what he expected to happen, he made his way back to his father. May we never forget our need for that.

@Scott, maybe God wanted to get that out this week. Or family just thinks alike? ; )

@Storment, Hosea is some incredible stuff. It's been on my mind a lot during the last few months.

hahaha, little kids doing stuff like that is pretty much the main benefit of even having auditoriums for worship, as far as i'm concerned.
