I saw this episode of "the Repore." The whole idea of Nimoy's book reminds me of a story a Harding prof told me about. He was working with a church early into his ministry career, and he was counseling with a member of the church who struggled with homosexuality. In this church there was also a Ph.D.-educated therapist who was aware of the counseling. This therapist came to this young minister and said, "Here's what you need to do: you need to get him hooked on heterosexual pornography. Then, once the issue with homosexuality is gone once he has moved to heterosexuality via the porn, you can then ween him off of the pornography."

This is the logic of the world. Nimoy is trying to ween the world off of prototypical ideas of female beauty by trying to push atypical pornography on the world. Ingenious!!

(sigh)

Fight the good fight, my brother.

I try to remind myself that my sexual desire that objectifies images of women is misplaced desire for fulfillment we find in our creator. Our souls are restless until they find rest with Him. So says Augustine, at least. He had Psalms 32 carved in the headboard above his bed. He certainly struggled with this.

Also, I try to keep in the front of my mind that God gave us our sexual drives, and all that comes from God is good. He made me thirst for pure water. And what Satan is trying to sell us on is going & slurping poo-poo water out of the toilet: a perversion of the authentic item.

It's hard to hold these truths when Satan is working 24/7 to sell me on the lie & twist my mind. But it's the hard that makes us great. If it weren't hard, everyone would do it. Or at least so says Tom Hanks' character in "Field of Dreams." ;) God finds favor in the fighters. So let's dig in our bunkers a little deeper & keep on fighting.
